Green Beans with Bacon
and Walnuts
(above) Start to finish: 25 minutes
Makes 6 servings | Serving size 1∕ 2 cup
Bonus Recipe
12 ounces thin green beans or fresh
haricot verts, trimmed
1 small red sweet pepper, seeded
and cut into strips
2 slices bacon
1∕ 4 cup chopped walnuts
2 cloves garlic, minced
1∕ 8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Beat Stronger. Live Longer.
1. In a large saucepan, cook green
beans and sweet pepper in enough boiling
water to cover for 3 minutes; drain.
2. In a large skillet, cook bacon over
medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon
and drain on paper towels, reserving
drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon;
set aside.
3. Add green beans and sweet
pepper, walnuts, garlic, 1∕ 4 teaspoon salt,
and crushed red pepper to the reserved
drippings. Cook and stir about 5 minutes
or until beans are tender and walnuts are
lightly toasted.
4. Sprinkle each serving with
crumbled bacon.
